Richard M. Weyer, or Rick, is an Instructor of Entrepreneurship in the Smeal College of Business at The Pennsylvania State University.   His primary interests include entrepreneurial mindset, commercialization of technology, and intellectual property management.

Mr. Weyer also serves in a part-time capacity performing marketing and sales management for DecisionVis, LLC, a young company that provides advanced design exploration, optimization, and visual analytics software to a breadth of end users.
Prior to joining Penn State, Mr. Weyer served as Vice President of Customer Success at Devicify, a new start company that provides a connected products management  (CPM) software solution built as a hosted business application for the Internet of Things.

Mr. Weyer served for over a decade as a Senior Technology Licensing Officer in the Office of Technology Management at Penn State University.  Mr. Weyer focused on working with university inventors in engineering and the physical sciences to establish patent strategies and worked closely with industry to license and transfer inventions from the university into companies for commercial development.   Mr. Weyer has been active in the Association of Technology Managers (AUTM) as a speaker, instructor, and by serving on several committees.
Mr. Weyer started his career as a research engineer at the Applied Research Lab at Penn State University and at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (Carderock) in Bethesda, MD specializing in fluid mechanics and acoustics.
Mr. Weyer earned a MBA degree from the Smeal College of Business Administration at Penn State University in 1998.  In addition, Mr. Weyer holds a Master’s degree in Ocean Engineering from the University of Rhode Island in 1984, and a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace and Ocean Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1981.

Mr. Weyer enjoys sports of all kinds, outdoor activities, gardening, and daydreaming.
