Introduction
Dr. Jeffrey L. Spearly is Managing Director for Penn State Executive Programs and a Senior Instructor in The Smeal College of Business. In this position, Jeff is responsible for all aspects of Penn State Executive Programs world-renowned programs, including business development, needs assessment, program design and delivery. Jeff works with client organizations to design an education process that addresses the needs, issues and challenges facing their organization. Jeff also directs a mix of open enrollment, strategy and leadership programs, including the Executive Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Coaching, and IT Executive programs.
Prior to joining Penn State Executive Programs, Jeff served as Director of Continuing Education at Penn State DuBois. During this time, Jeff developed a reputation for exceptional quality and innovation. A significant area of emphasis was the delivery of single client training and organization development programs for business and industry, including assessment, development, marketing and administration of credit, non-credit and consulting services. The National University Continuing Education Association (NUCEA), the American College Testing (ACT) program, and the University recognized Jeff's efforts for creativity, innovation, and excellence.
At Penn State, Jeff's clients have included a diverse group of chief executives and senior managers from Carpenter Technology Corporation, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Defense and Defense Logistics Agency, ECOLAB, ExxonMobil, Gap Inc, GKN, IBM, Ingersoll-Rand, Invensys, JA Worldwide, National Security Agency, Roadway, Osram-Sylvania, Owens-Brockway, SBC, Thermometrics, U.S. Army, United States Marine Corps, Willamette Industries, and Zippo Manufacturing.
Jeff earned a Ph.D. from Penn State in Workforce Education and Development with an emphasis in Training and Organization Development.
Current Research
Dr. Spearly recently completed a study to investigate trends in executive education, a study previously conducted by Dr. Albert A. Vicere. This research was partially funded by the International University Consortium for Executive Education.
