Professor Zhao’s research focuses on collaboration in decentralized supply chains, information asymmetry and collaboration, and supply chain contracting. Most of her current research work is in the area of healthcare operations with particular interests in pharmaceutical supply chains, pharmaceutical distributions, and hospital and clinic operations. Professor Zhao’s research has appeared in leading journals such as Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Naval Research Logistics, and Interfaces. Prior to joining the faculty of Smeal, Professor Zhao has been on faculty at Krannert School of Management at Purdue University for a number of years. She has worked with the Technical Assistance Program of Purdue University to provide technical expertise and consulting services to Indiana businesses and government. She has also worked with Caterpillar and Proctor and Gamble. Professor Zhao’s teaching interests are supply chain management, business analysis, and healthcare supply chains.
Professor Zhao is currently looking at drug shortage problem from the supply chain perspective. She is also working on pharmaceutical supply chain and sourcing with quality competition.
