Abdou Karim Jallow joined Smeal faculty in August 2013. Before joining SCIS, Dr. Jallow was working as a Post-Doctoral Scholar at the Department of Architectural Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, USA from 2011; conducting research on the $129 million Energy Efficient Buildings Hub (EEB Hub) Project funded by the Department of Energy (DoE) and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 2011, Dr. Jallow was awarded a PhD (Informatics and Management with focus on Information Management and Enterprise Systems) from Loughborough University, UK. Before that, he graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) in IT for Product Engineering in 2006 from the Decision Engineering Centre, School of Applied Sciences, Cranfield University, UK. He also holds a Bachelor of Science with Honors (BSc (Hons)) in Information Systems Management from Cranfield University at the Defence College of Management and Technology in Shrivenham, UK awarded in June 2005. He is a member of the Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS, UK).
Previously, he has worked as a Research Assistant at Loughborough University from 2009 to 2010 on a knowledge management project at the Department of Civil and Building Engineering. Formerly in 2007, he was a business process analyst at Komatsu UK Ltd. whilst serving as a knowledge transfer associate at the Business School of Brunel University, UK. Dr. Jallow’s research and teaching combines interdisciplinary elements of computer science, information science & technology and information systems & management, and their application in various industry domains. He has taught various courses in the domain of management information systems, and mentored students in Africa, Europe and USA. He has strong research interest in information systems, business process management, information & knowledge management, requirements and systems engineering, management systems engineering and risk & change management. He has produced a number of publications based on his work in renowned journals and international conference proceedings. Dr. Jallow has reviewed papers for various journals and conferences. He is a recipient of a number of academic and scholarship awards.
